04/02/2017  Sloppy MTD steering. As you said earlier, buy and replace will not remove the "slop" as it is a stamped unit overall. However, all things can be improved and it doesn't always require a machine shop to accomplish the desired outcome. Sometimes these old mowers are more of an old family member than anything else.

01/10/2009  MTD Yard Machines 660 Steering Shaft. I have a MTD Yard Machines Lawn tractor model 13AM660F062. The steering has been real bad on it recently, so I checked and it looks like the 'gear' part of the bottom of the steering shaft is pretty chewed up. I went ahead and order the replacement part but I am having a heck of a time getting the old one off.

01/10/2020  2518 question about steering play/slop CCC/MTD Cub Cadet built Tractors (GT) ... If that is tight, then I am guessing of lack of Maintenance (no grease) has wallowed out the hole in the Axle (719-3095), as well, as the Pivot Pin (938-3110) being worn. I would suggest jacking the front end up, removing the axle, and do an inspection on the Pivot Hole and Pin for wear.
